At 41 miles long, Loch Fyne is one of Scotland's largest sea-lochs. Much of the loch is bordered by tree-lined hills, and many of the dive sites are in stunning surroundings.
The Kintyre peninsular is a haven of peace and tranquillity where you can escape the summer crowds, relax and unwind. Tarbert is a picturesque fishing village with a natural harbour guarded by the historic castle.
There are still fishing boats although they now land prawns and scallops rather than the traditional herring.
Tarbert Castle is a scheduled monument which is held in Trust for the community and maintained by volunteers. There are some beautiful walks around the castle and it provides an excellent location for a picnic or taking photos of the magnificent views over the harbour and Loch Fyne beyond.
Tarbert is a centre for many local artists and their work can be viewed in the local galleries and make super presents to take home.
At the end of the days diving you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating and drinking. The local cafes, pubs and restaurants offer a wide range of superb Scottish seafood, local meat and game as well as international and vegetarian meals.
Loch Fyne Dive Charters is based in Tarbert, on the beautiful Kintrye Peninsular, is only 2 hours drive from Glasgow along one of the most scenic routes in Scotland. Travelling north from England you will travel along the M74 linking onto the M8 for Glasgow and Glasgow International Airport. As you pass the airport follow signs for the Erskine Bridge and Loch Lomond (A82). Follow the A82 along the side of Loch Lomond until you reach Tarbet (Loch Lomond) then take the A83 to Inveraray, Lochgilphead until you reach signs for Tarbert (Loch Fyne).
